What is IPO GMP?

Grey market premium is the unofficial premium or discount quoted for IPO shares before exchange trading starts. It can change quickly, differ between publishers and fail to predict the listing price. A negative GMP indicates a discount; a missing observation is not a zero premium.

How we display observations

Connected providers supply observations for Mainboard and SME issues. We match the company name, board and opening date conservatively, remove repeated publisher names, and display the median and range of observations updated within six hours. Older observations remain visible only as stale source details. We do not replace missing data with calculated prices.

When a provider supplies one timestamp for its multi-source snapshot, we label it as a provider snapshot—not an independently verified update time for each publisher. Multiple publisher names do not guarantee independent underlying information.

Why the displayed percentage may differ

GMP percentage is premium per share divided by the recorded upper issue price, multiplied by 100. For example, a ₹20 premium on a ₹100 issue price is 20%. This is an illustration, not a quote or profit forecast. Where providers disagree on the issue price, we withhold the percentage.

Coverage and availability

Coverage does not guarantee every IPO has an observation. Refreshes preserve the original observation time. We exclude issues on or after their recorded listing date, and a missing date or unrecognized record is shown as unavailable rather than silently guessed.
